Rock & Roll Suicide: Top 10 Songs About Wanting to Die

Sure, we all think about ending it all sometimes. Sometimes it just gets to be too much and it's like what's the point. Or sometimes a girl leaves you and it's just the only logical solution. Or sometimes you just get really bored. In any case, it's a universal fantasy that we all have that only a few dare carry out, (which is strange considering how easy it is) and we call them the cowards!*

Here are the ten best songs about suicide by a collection of artists who, interestingly enough, never committed suicide. Some of them have died, sure, but not by their own hands. It seems like artists who actually do commit suicide don't want to talk about it. (I'm lookin' at you Curt Kobain!) Or if they do want to talk about it, maybe the songs just aren't very good.

1. "Suicide Song" - Loudon Wainwright III
2. "Yer Blues" - The Beatles
3. "If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)" - Peter Droge
4. "Today" - Smashing Pumpkins
5. "Dress Rehearsal Rag" - Leonard Cohen
6. "Gloomy Sunday" - Billie Holliday
7. "I Think I'm Gonna Kill Myself" - Elton John
8. "For You" - Bruce Springsteen
9. "Suicidal Thoughts" - Notorious B.I.G.
10. "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" - Bob Dylan

Honorable Tracks:
"Moonage Daydream" - David Bowie
